Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Ghost runs in your web browser on any phone or computer, including iPhone. Create an account with an email address and a password, buy credits and send. You are never asked for your own phone number. There is also an Android app on Google Play if you prefer one.

Open Ghost in your browser at ghostsms.online or in the Android app, choose the country, enter the recipient's number, write your message and send. It arrives from Ghost's sender ID instead of your number. The browser version asks for an email address and a password first; with a promo code you can send one free text at ghostsms.online/free without an account.

Yes. Ghost masks your real phone number using number masking technology — recipients never see your actual number. Ghost maintains minimal metadata strictly for abuse prevention and legal compliance and does not share it unless required by law. Your privacy is the product.

When you send a message through Ghost, it routes through our secure servers and is delivered with a protected sender ID. Your carrier, device, and real number are never transmitted to the recipient. The masking happens at the server level — there's nothing to configure on your end.

Ghost routes all outbound messages through our secure infrastructure. Your real phone number is replaced with a protected sender ID before delivery. We do not disclose your number to recipients, and it is never stored in a form accessible to them.

Yes, if you turn on Reply Link when you send. Ghost adds a short link to your text; the recipient opens it and writes one reply, which arrives on your phone as a normal text without them seeing your number. Each link takes one reply within 7 days and costs 3 credits plus the cost of the reply. Replying to the text itself does not reach you.

Yes. Ghost supports sending messages to phone numbers in 100+ countries worldwide. International delivery may use more credits than domestic messages due to carrier costs. Check the rates screen, in your browser or in the app, for per-country pricing.

Ghost suits marketplace selling on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace or eBay: you can text a buyer to arrange pickup without revealing your personal number. Ghost texts cannot contain links, so keep payment and listing details on the marketplace itself.

Ghost uses credits with no subscription. Standard: $4 for 20 credits. Plus: $10 for 50 credits. A Starter pack of 5 credits for $1 is sold in the Android app. In India the browser charges in rupees, from ₹99. A text to the US, Canada or the UK costs 1 credit per segment, as do many others; some countries cost more. Credits never expire.

Encrypted messaging (like Signal or WhatsApp) hides message content in transit. Anonymous SMS hides your identity — the recipient cannot trace the message back to your real number. Ghost provides anonymity so your number stays private, not encryption of the message body. Both matter for different threat models.

No account is required to try Ghost: with a promo code you can send a free anonymous SMS at ghostsms.online/free. To send regularly from your browser you create an account with an email address and a password. No phone number is needed. The Android app on Google Play asks for the same: an email address and a password.

A text costs credits according to the destination country and its length: messages over 160 characters are sent in segments, and each segment is charged. The rates screen shows the price for each country before you send. Credits are bought in packs and never expire.

All credit purchases are final and non-refundable unless required by applicable law. Please make sure you understand the service before purchasing. For technical issues, contact info@elvento.com with your transaction ID.

Ghost achieves high delivery rates, but delivery ultimately depends on the recipient's carrier, device status, and regional carrier restrictions. You'll see delivery status updates in your message history. Undelivered credits are not automatically refunded, but contact support if you encounter persistent delivery failures.

Sending private messages is legal in most jurisdictions for legitimate purposes such as protecting privacy when selling online, professional feedback, or personal safety. Using Ghost for harassment, threats, fraud, or any illegal activity is strictly prohibited and may result in account termination and cooperation with law enforcement.

We take abuse seriously. Users who violate our Terms of Service have their access terminated immediately. Despite the privacy protections Ghost provides, illegal activities can still be traced by law enforcement, and we comply fully with valid legal requests.

Yes, in the web app. Compose your message, choose Schedule, and pick a date, a time and a time zone, and Ghost sends it automatically at that moment. You can edit or cancel it until it goes out. This is useful for business follow-ups, reminders, and time-sensitive communications. The Android app sends messages immediately.

Ghost supports sending to 100+ countries. Coverage and per-message credit costs vary by destination. The rates screen shows current pricing for each country before you send.
