What a Text Costs by Country

Carriers charge different amounts to deliver a text in different countries, so Ghost prices each destination in credits. As of October 2026, 56 countries cost 1 credit per segment and 51 cost 2. The rest cost between 3 and 8. Some common destinations:

Credits per segmentCountries
1 credit (20¢)United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, France, Spain, Italy, Finland, Brazil, Singapore
2 credits (40¢)Germany, Netherlands, India, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, United Arab Emirates
3 credits (60¢)Philippines
4 credits (80¢)Nigeria

Cents assume the Standard or Plus pack, at 20¢ per credit. Rates follow carrier prices and can change; Ghost shows the current price for the country you pick before you send. See the rate for every country.

How Message Length Affects the Price

A text is charged per segment. One segment holds up to 160 standard characters. A longer message is split into segments of 153 characters each, which the recipient's phone joins back into one message. Ghost sends up to 10 segments.

Texts to the US, Canada and Europe begin with "GHOST:", and those characters count toward the length. For example, a 200-character message to the UK is 2 segments, so 2 credits. The same message to Germany is 4 credits. The compose screen counts segments and shows the total as you type.

Ghost uses the standard SMS character set: letters, numbers and common punctuation. Emoji and some special characters are not supported, and messages that contain a web address are refused.

What Reply Links Cost

Turn on a Reply Link when you send and the recipient can answer you once, without seeing your number. The link costs 3 credits when you send. The reply is delivered to your phone as a normal text and charged at the rate for your country, so a short reply to a US number adds 1 credit. You need enough credits for both when you send. Each link takes one reply within 7 days.

Leave Reply Links off when you don't need an answer, and the text costs only its normal rate. How two-way anonymous texting works

Where to Buy Credits

In your browser: create an account with an email address and a password, then buy the Standard or Plus pack with PayPal. Visitors in India pay with Razorpay in rupees, where all three packs are available. The browser version works on any computer or phone, including iPhone, and can schedule texts to go out later.

In the Android app: buy any pack, including the $1 Starter, through Google Play. Sign-up uses an email address and a password, as in the browser.

Neither asks for your own phone number. All purchases are final unless the law requires a refund, but credits never expire, so nothing you buy goes to waste.

Try Before You Buy

With a promo code you can send one anonymous text at ghostsms.online/free, with no account, no download and no card. Ghost shares codes on its Facebook page. If it works for you, buy credits in the browser or the app.

Compare: Ghost vs Subscription-Based Alternatives

Most alternatives sell you a second phone number, which usually means a subscription, ads, or a number you have to keep active. Ghost charges only for the texts you send, and it doesn't give the recipient a number they can save.

Pricing Questions

No. Credits stay on your account until you use them. There is no monthly fee and nothing renews automatically.

It depends on the destination and the length. A standard text of up to 160 characters to the US, Canada, the UK or Australia uses 1 credit, as do many others; some countries cost 2 to 8 credits per segment, and longer texts are sent in more than one segment.

Outside India, the browser takes payment through PayPal, whose fixed fee per payment would swallow most of a $1 sale. The Starter pack is sold in the Android app through Google Play. In the browser, packs start at $4 for 20 credits.

No. Credits are taken only after the text has been accepted for delivery. If Ghost cannot send it, your balance is unchanged. A text that is accepted but later blocked by the recipient’s carrier is still charged.

A Reply Link costs 3 credits, plus the price of the reply itself at the rate for the country it is delivered to. The reply is charged when it is sent. Each link takes one reply within 7 days.

Purchases are final and non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise. Since credits never expire, unused credits stay available for later.
